Step-by-Step Upgrade Process
Record Your Existing Part Number
Locate the full part number on your existing R-Series sensor label. This is typically found on the electronics housing or on the sensor's nameplate. Note the complete part number, including any suffix codes. If the label is damaged, take a photo and send it to Emolice for identification.
Identify the Output Interface
Determine which output interface your current R-Series sensor uses: analog (voltage or current), SSI, EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Profibus, or CANbus. The R-Series V supports all of these except Profibus and CANbus. If your application uses Profibus, contact Emolice to discuss migrating to PROFINET.
Confirm Your Replacement
The R-Series V is a form, fit and function direct replacement for the R-Series where outputs match. Mounting dimensions, stroke length, and connector type are identical. Contact Emolice with your part number to receive the R-Series V equivalent.
Verify Electrical Compatibility
Where you are maintaining the same interface type, existing cabling is fully reusable. If changing interface type as part of the upgrade (e.g., analog to EtherCAT), new cabling and PLC configuration will be required.

CANbus: Available on R-Series but not R-Series V. For CANbus applications, consider the G-Series V.
