The Temposonics R-Series has been succeeded by the R-Series V. Selected models remain available for existing installations where CANbus or PROFIBUS continuity is required. For new builds, Emolice recommends the R-Series V.

The R-Series V is the form, fit and function backward-compatible successor to the R-Series. Mounting, stroke, magnet and SSI / Industrial Ethernet interfaces map directly across, so most installations are a true drop-in upgrade.

Overview
The Temposonics R-Series is a proven, high-performance magnetostrictive linear position sensor designed for advanced motion control in industrial applications. With stroke lengths up to 20,000 mm and sub-micron resolution, the R-Series has been a trusted choice for demanding installations worldwide. Available in rod (RH), profile (RP), detached electronics (RD4), redundant (RT4), flexible rod (RF), and protective housing (RS) configurations, the R-Series offers extensive versatility. The R-Series supports the widest range of communication interfaces of any Temposonics sensor, including analog, SSI, EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANbus, and Profibus.

Selection Guidance
The R-Series remains a valid choice for applications requiring Profibus or CANbus interfaces, which are not available on the newer R-Series V. For new projects using industrial Ethernet, we recommend considering the R-Series V for its improved diagnostics and Industry 4.0 features.
