Temposonics R-Series V vs R-Series: Which Sensor Is Right for You?
Where outputs are the same, the R-Series V is a form, fit and function, fully backward compatible direct replacement for the legacy R-Series. The R-Series is no longer available for new orders. Faulty sensors should be replaced with the equivalent R-Series V, and all new projects must specify the R-Series V.

The R-Series V represents a significant advancement over the legacy R-Series. While the core magnetostrictive sensing principle remains the same, the R-Series V introduces several important improvements:

When to Use the R-Series V
The R-Series is no longer available for new orders. The R-Series V is the mandatory replacement in all scenarios:
- New machine builds and system designs: the R-Series V must be specified for all new projects
- Replacing a faulty R-Series sensor: the R-Series V is a form, fit and function direct replacement where outputs match
- Standardising spare stock: consolidate to the R-Series V to simplify inventory
- Applications requiring improved vibration or shock resistance
- Facilities implementing Industry 4.0 or predictive maintenance strategies
- Note: if your application requires Profibus or CANbus (available on the legacy R-Series but not the R-Series V), contact Emolice to discuss alternatives
Important: Interface Differences
The R-Series V does not support Profibus or CANbus interfaces, which are available on the legacy R-Series. If your application requires Profibus, contact Emolice to discuss migrating to PROFINET. For CANbus applications, consider the G-Series V.
